Google entrance examination problem

The questions Google asks when hiring employees are unique: they are scientific, creative, and socially understanding, not memorizing and answering, so that they can be answered comprehensively.

If you look at a few questions,

how many golf balls do you think a school bus has?

How much would I get to wipe the windows of every building in Seattle?

In a country where people only want a son, all families continue to have children until they have a son. If they have a daughter, they have another child and if they have a son, they no longer have a child.

How many piano tuners do you have in Chicago?

Design a San Francisco disaster evacuation plan.

Why is the manhole cover round?

I think our education system is right for solving this problem, but I do not think there is a right answer in the world. President Obama praised our education system in the past, so it is obvious that it is excellent from a foreign country, but since there is nothing perfect, I think he will make up for it and revise it.

I remember the humor I heard in the past. The title is 'What if I was born in Korea?'

Einstein, Edison, and Mrs. Curie have funny words that they were born in Korea a long time ago and were born again in another country because no one succeeded.

If you see why,

Einstein was too far ahead, he was bullied by someone else,

Mrs. Curie was a woman, so she had no chance to show her abilities,

and Edison failed because she had no academic background.

These days, the times are changing into the times that reflect the desires and changes of the times and show individuality, not the times when I memorize the same things and wear the same clothes. Some people think of this, others think of it, others study the past, and others lead the future. So I would like to use my taste and aptitude to students to reduce the stress moderately and to mix the education method with a life waiting for something while expecting the future.

I was envious of the way I learned, learned, and answered each other like Professor Michael Sendel in the video of 'What is Justice?' I remember the shame of President Obama asking our reporters if they had any questions.

STT, TTS, ITT Technology

The typical speech recognition techniques that can be used in the work are STT (speech to Text) and TTS (Text to Speech) technologies.

Google documents and sheets attach a smartphone microphone or a laptop microphone and text it as soon as you speak.

And apps like TalkFree on Android phones and ALOUD on iPhones read texts in the voice of pretty women when they are moved. This technology is called TTS, which is a technology that transforms characters into words.

Apps such as Microsoft Office Lens characterize the image containing the character immediately after taking a picture, and Google translation immediately translates the image containing the character and creates the document. This technique is called ITT (Image to Text) which transforms character images into letters.

Some joke that old people are riding all the bad seats of express buses these days. The reason is that you can not make a reservation on your cell phone and go to the terminal directly, so you have to wait for the back seat or the next time express bus. The world has changed. I can follow the times or get in the back seat.

It’s fun and amazing to follow the three skills on your cell phone. Life is fun when you have fun.

It’s much easier to stop creative things: punish them every time they do something new and different: do the same thing as others. Creativity is to challenge, make mistakes, make yourself a fool, and challenge yourself again.

구글이 직원을 채용할 때 출제하는 문제들은 독특하다. 즉, 외워서 대답하는 문제가 아닌 과학제이고 창의적이며 사회적으로 이해를 해야 종합적으로 대답을 산출할 수 있다.

사람들이 오직 아들만 원하는 나라에서는 모든 가족들이 아들을 낳을 때까지 계속 아이를 낳는다. 만일 그들이 딸을 낳는다면 그들은 또 다른 아이를 가지게 되고 아들을 낳는다면 더 이상 아이를 갖지 않는다. 이 나라에서 아들과 딸의 성비는?

우리의 교육 시스템이 이 문제를 푸는데 적답한 것일까? 하는 생각이 들지만 세상에 정답은 없다고 하지 않은가? 과거 오바마 대통령은 우리의 교육 시스템을 극찬했으니 외국에서 볼 때는 우수하다고 보는게 틀림은 없다. 그런데 완벽한 것은 없다고 하니 보완을 잘 해가며 수정하리라 본다.

과거에 들은 유머가 생각나는게 있다. 제목은 '한국에서 태어났다면?'이다.

아인슈타인, 에디슨, 퀴리부인은 오래전 한국에서 태어났다가 아무도 성공하지 못해서 다른 나라에서 다시 태어났다는 우스개 말이 있다.

 

그 이유를 알아보면,

아인슈타인은 너무 앞서 가다 다른 사람한테서 왕따를 당했고,

​

퀴리부인은 여자라서 능력을 발휘할 기회가 없었고,

​

에디슨은 학벌이 없어서 실패했다고...

​

요즘 시대는 자기의 하고 싶은 욕망과 시대의 변화를 반영하며 개성을 보여주는 시대로 변화되고 있다. 과거 똑같이 외우고 똑같은 옷을 입는 시대는 아니다. 이런 생각을 하는 사람도 있고 저런 생각을 하는 사람도 있고, 과거를 연구하는 사람과 미래를 선두하는 사람도 있다. 그러니 학생에게도 자신의 취향과 적성을 잘 살려 스트레스를 적당히 줄이면서 미래를 기대하면서 뭔가 기다려 지는 삶으로 교육의 방법을 섞어가며 했으면 하는 생각이다.

'정의는 무엇인가' 영상에서 본 마이클 센델 교수처럼 서로 소통하며 배우고 대답하는 모습이 부러웠다. 지루하지도 않고 졸지도 않으며 토론하먼서 자신의 주장을 논리적으로 대답하는 모습이 말이다. 과거 오바마 대통령이 우리 기자에게 질문 없냐고 하는 창피한 모습이 떠오른다.

과거 정주영 회장은 좋은 아이디어가 생각나거나 하면 누가 먼저 하는게 아닌가 하는 생각도 들고 장사에 재미가 들려 출근이 기다려 진다고 했다. 우리도 이런 새벽이 기다려 지는 경험을 느끼고 살아야 하지 않을까?

오늘은 얼마나 올랐을까? 아니면 오늘은 얼마나 기대치가 만족할 수 있을까? 하는 기대감으로 말이다.

◇ STT, TTS, ITT 기술

​

업무에 활용할 수 있는 대표적인 음성 인식 기술은 STT (speech to Text)와 TTS (Text to Speech) 기술이다.

​

구글 문서나 시트에서는 스마트폰 마이크나 노트북 마이크를 부착하고 말을 하면 바로 문자화 시켜 준다. 이 기술을 STT라고 부른다. 말을 문자화 시켜 주는 기술이다.

​

그리고 안드로이드 폰의 TalkFree나 아이폰의 ALOUD와 같은 앱은 텍스트를 옮겨 놓으면 문자를 예쁜 여성의 목소리로 읽어 준다. 속도를 조절할 수도 있다. 이 기술은 TTS라고 부른다. 문자를 말로 변환시켜주는 기술이다.

MS 오피스렌즈 (ofice Lens)와 같은 앱은 문자를 담고 있는 이미지를 사진 찍으면 바로 문자화해 주고 구글 번역은 문자를 담고 있는 이미지를 사진 찍으면 즉시 번역해 문서를 만들어 준다. 이 기술은 ITT (Image to Text)라고 부른다. 문자 이미지를 글자로 변환시켜주는 기술이다.

누군가 농담으로 요즘 고속버스 나쁜 자리는 다 노인네들이 탄다고 한다. 이유는 휴대폰으로 예약을 못하고 직접 터미널로 가니 뒷 좌석이나 다음 시간 고속버스를 기다려야 한다는 거다.이해가 간다. 그러나 어쩌겠는가? 세상이 변했는데.. 시대를 따라가던가 뒷좌석에 타던가이다.

핸드폰으로 위에 세 가지 기술도 따라해 보면 재미있고 놀랍다. 재미가 있어야 인생이 즐겁다.

* 누군가를 창의적으로 만드는 것 보다

창조적인 것을 막는 게 훨씬 쉽다. 뭔가 새롭고 다른 일을 할 때마다 벌을 주면 된다. 즉, ‘다른 사람과 똑같이 하라’고 하면 그만이다. 창의성이란 도전하고 실수하고 스스로를 한번 바보로 만들어보고 다시 추슬러 도전하는 것이다.
