◇ Rabbits and turtles

In the race between rabbits and turtles, we learn the wisdom of life. One of them is that we care too much about our surroundings without clear goals and compare and compete with our surroundings to reflect on whether we don't forget our lives. 

As you can see in the race, the rabbit was lazy, thinking only of the tortoise that was faster but slower than the turtle, and ended up losing the race. 

"The rabbit raced to see the opponent, and the turtle ran to the target."

◇ 笑而不答

He laughs but does not answer. A person's attitude when asked or in need.

 

There is a phrase like this in the poem of party poet Lee Tae-baek.  

Moon Yeo-ha Temple Byeoksan 

Ask me why I live deep in the mountains

It is very relaxing not to smile and answer.

In a passage from Lee Tae-baek’s poem, "The Mountain Response," someone asked Lee why he lived in such a deep mountain, but Lee only smiled without answering.

◇ 토끼와 거북이

토끼와 거북이 경주에서 우리는 삶의 지혜를 배우게 된다. 그 중에 하나는 뚜렷한 목표 없이 주위환경에 너무 민감하게 신경 쓰며 하루하루를 경쟁적으로 살아가는 우리의 모습 속에서 주변과 비교하고 경쟁하느라 혹시 우리의 삶을 잊어버리고 살지는 않는지 반성하게 한다. 

경주에서 보듯이 토끼는 거북이보다 월등하게 빠르지만 느린 거북이만을 생각하며 게으름을 피우다가 결국 경주에서 졌다. 

"토끼는 상대를 보고 경주했고, 거북이는 목표를 보고 달려 갔다."

◇ 소이부답 (笑而不答)

[웃을 소, 어조사 이, 아닐 부, 답할 답]

웃기만 할 뿐 대답을 하지 않는다. 남에게 질문을 받고 대답하기 싫어하거나 곤란할 때의 태도를 뜻함.

 

당(唐) 시인 이태백(李太白)의 시에 이런 구절이 있다.  

문여하사서벽산 (問余何事栖碧山) 

나더러 왜 깊은 산 속에 사느냐 묻기에

소이부답심자한 (笑而不答心自閑) 빙그레 웃고 대답않으니 마음 절로 한가롭다.

도화유수요연거 (桃花流水杳然去) 

흐르는 물 위에 복사꽃 아득히 떠가니

별유천지비인간 (別有天地非人間)

여기가 바로 별천지인가 하노라.

 

이태백의 <산중답인(山中答人)>이라는 시에 나오는 구절로 누군가 이태백에게 무엇 때문에 이런 깊은 산속에 사냐고 물었지만 이태백은 아무런 대답 없이 웃기만 했다.
