Domino Experiment

Columbia University physicist White conducted a curious experiment.

A total of 13 sets of dominoes were made and experimented, and the interesting conclusion was that one finger could fall into a skyscraper.

He found that the power of each domino falling could knock down a domino that was 1.5 times his own.

The first domino will start at 5 cm high, the 18th domino will be as tall as the Pisa's four-topped tower, the 23rd domino will be larger than the Eiffel Tower, the 31st domino will be 900 m higher than Mount Everest, and the 57th domino will literally release the bridge from Earth to the Moon.

On the other hand, the small force of tapping with a finger (a minor accident) can also be seen as an experiment that teaches that a chain of stages can cause a great disaster.

And the way to avoid continuously knocking dominoes does not lead to the next step if there is a domino (later exposure removal) located in the middle or a domino (middle supervisory level) that does not fall on the bottom.

◇ 도미노 실험

컬럼비아 대학교 물리학자 화이트는 신기한 실험을 진행했다.

총 13개 한 셋트로 구성된 도미노를 만들어 실험한 결과, 한 손가락으로 초고층 빌딩로 쓰러뜨릴 수 있다는 재미있는 결론을 내렸다.

그는 각 도미노가 넘어지면서 생기는 힘은 자신의 1.5배가 되는 도미노를 쓰러뜨릴 수 있다는 사실을 알아냈다.

첫번째 도미노는 높이가 5cm로 시작하면 18번째 도미노는 피사의 사탑만큼 클 것이고, 23번째 도미노는 에펠탑보다 클 것이고, 31번째 도미노는 에베레스트산보다 900m나 높을 것이며, 57번째 도미노는 말그대로 지구에서 달까지 다리를 놓아줄 것이다.

한편 손가락으로 툭치는 작은 힘(사소한 사고 유발)은 연쇄적인 단계를 거치게 되면서 엄청난 재난을 일으킬 수 있다는 교훈을 주는 실험으로도 볼 수 있다.

그리고 도미노를 연속적으로 넘어뜨리지 않는 방법은 중간에 위치한 도미노(위험 노출 제거)를 없애거나 바닥이 튼튼한 넘어지지 않는 도미노(중간 감독관급)가 있으면 다음 단계로 이어지지 않는다.
