◇ Missouri battleship

On August 28, 1945, Missouri docked in Tokyo Bay to prepare a signing ceremony for Japan's unconditional surrender. On Sept. 2, 1945, Momaru Shigemitsu, the then foreign minister representing the Allied Forces and the Japanese government represented by General Douglas MacArthur, commander of the Allied Forces, held a surrender signing ceremony in the warship Missouri that ended the war.

When the Korean War began, the Missouri warship arrived in Korea in August 1950, supporting operations to successfully lead the Incheon landing operation in September and successfully carrying out missions.

On March 31, 1992, the Missouri battleship was ordered back into service after docking in Bremerton, Washington, and in 1996, the U.S. Navy donated the Missouri warship to the Missouri Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Arrived at Ford Island on 22 June 1998 and was opened to the public on 29 January 1999 through renovation.

Since then, the Missouri battleship has been used as a living historical site and as a shipboard museum loved by many.

9월 2일 1945년 - 미주리 호 함상에서 일본 항복조인식 거행

◇ 미주리 전함

1945년 8월 28일 미주리호는 일본의 무조건 항복문서 조인식을 준비하게 위하여 도쿄만에 정박했다. 1945년 9월 2일, 연합군 총사령관 더글라스 맥아더 장군을 대표로 한 연합군과 일본정부를 대표하는 당시 외무대신 시게미츠 마모루는 전함 미주리호에서 전행을 종결하는 항복 조인식을 거행했다.

한국전쟁이 시작되자 미주리 전함은 1950년 8월 한국에 도착하였으며, 9월 인천상륙작전을 성공적으로 이끌기 위한 작전을 지원하였으며 성공적으로 임무를 수행했다.

1992년 3월 31일 미주리 전함은 워싱턴 주 브레머턴에 정박을 한 후 다시 퇴역을 명 받았으며, 1996년 미 해군은 미주리 전함을 하와이 주 호놀룰루 전함 미주리 기념관에 기증하였다.
1998년 6월 22일 포드 아일랜드에 도착하여 개보수 작업을 통해 1999년 1월 29일 일반에게 공개되었다.

그 후 미주리 전함은 살아있는 역사의 현장으로써 많은 사람들에게 사랑받는 선상 박물관으로 활용되고 있다.
