10 cents and 50 cents

There was a kid who was teased by his neighborhood brothers as a fool, and he always chose a nickel for one of two nickels and a nickel for fifty.

“This fool thinks ten cents is the best.”

The children teased him as a stupid kid who couldn’t tell the amount of money, and when one day his grandfather told him that a fifty cent was better, he said, “I’m not sure I’m going to pay you a lot.”

동네 형들에게 바보라고 놀림받는 아이가 있었다. 아이는 누가 10센트짜리 동전과 50센트짜리 동전 두 개 중 하나를 골라 가지라고 하면 늘 10센트짜리 동전을 택했다.

“이 바보는 10센트짜리가 제일인 줄 알아”

아이들은 그를 돈 액수도 분간 못하는 멍청한 애라고 놀려댔다. 어느 날 보다 못한 동네 할아버지가 50센트짜리가 더 좋은 것이라고 말해주자 아이는 이렇게 대답했다.

“저도 알아요. 하지만 50센트짜리를 받는 순간 제 용돈은 끊기거든요”

그는 자라서 미국 대통령이 됐다. 그가 바로 링컨이다.

여러 사람의 마음이 성을 이룬다. 여러 사람이 마음을 하나로 합쳐 단결하면 못할 일이 없다는 뜻
