Under the Korean Foreign Treatment Act, the government established a legal anniversary to create a social environment in which people and foreigners living together while respecting each other’s culture and traditions.

As of 2017, the proportion of foreigners living in South Korea stood at 4.22 percent, with the number of foreigners living in the country growing exponentially from 40,519 in 1980 to more than 100,000 in 1990, over 1 million in 2007 and over 2 million in 2016.

The number of foreign workers increases by more than 10 percent every year, an unprecedented increase in the world.

정부는 ‘재한외국인처우기본법’에 의해 국민과 재한 외국인이 서로의 문화와 전통을 존중하면서 더불어 살아갈 수 있는 사회 환경을 조성하기 위해 제정된 법정기념일

2017년 기준 한국의 외국인 비율은 4.22%로 약 2백만 명, 한국에 거주하는 외국인의 수는 1980년 40,519명에서 1990년에 십만 명 이상, 2007년에 백만 명 이상, 2016년에 2백만 명 이상으로 기하급수적으로 증가하였다.

외국인 노동자 숫자는 해마다 10% 이상씩 증가, 이는 전 세계에서 유례가 없는 증가율이다.
