금융위기는 20년 이상 이어진 경제적 안정의 결과였고 유로화 붕괴 위기는 영구적으로 안정적이라고 생각했기 때문이며 허리케인 카트라나와 후쿠시마를 덮친 쓰나미가 입힌 피해의 근본적인 원인은 그간 엔지니어와 정착민들이 성공적으로 자연재해를 막아냈기 때문이다.
