◇ covet a small thing and lose a big one

King Hye of the Qin Dynasty sent messengers to show King Tentu a list of used goods, which contained a cow with a golden dung. The courtiers asserted that this might be a scheme of the Qin Dynasty, but without hearing this, the Tentor went out with his officials to meet the Shashidan of the Qin Dynasty to the entrance of the capital city.

But there were soldiers of the Jin Dynasty who hid their weapons in the shrine. When the emperor of the Qing Dynasty showed up with his officials without any defense, he suddenly attacked them with weapons hidden by the soldiers of the Qin Dynasty, which led to the fall of the Qing Dynasty.

하수 : 같이 욕을 한다.
중수 : 조용히 끌고 나간다.
고수 : 부처같은 미소를짓는다.

하수 : 말하기 귀찮아 그냥 백 원 더 넣는다.

고수 : 안 먹었어도 먹었다고 말한다.

◇ 소탐대실

진(秦)나라 혜왕(惠王)은 이웃에 인접한 촉나라를 공격하고 싶었으나 지형이 험해 쉽지가 않았다.

그래서 혜왕은 촉나라 군주가 욕심이 많다는 걸 이용해 계략을 짰다. 먼저 돌로 소 다섯 마리를 만들게 한 후 꽁무니에 금가루를 뿌려 소가 황금 똥을 눈다고 소문을 퍼뜨렸다.

소문은 촉나라까지 퍼져나갔고, 이 소문을 들은 촉나라 군주는 이 소가 갖고 싶어 안달이 났다. 이때를 놓치지 않고 진나라 혜왕이 촉나라에 기별을 보내 화친의 예물로 그 소를 촉 군주에게 바치겠다고 했다.

진나라 혜왕은 사신을 보내 촉 군주에게 헌상품 목록을 보여주도록 했는데, 그 목록 속에 황금 똥을 누는 소가 들어 있었다. 신하들은 이것이 진나라의 계략일지도 모른다고 간언하였으나 촉 군주는 이를 듣지 않고 신하들과 함께 도성 입구까지 진나라 사신단을 맞으러 나갔다.

그런데 그 사신단 속에는 무기를 숨긴 진나라 병사들이 들어 있었다. 촉나라 군주가 아무런 방비도 없이 신하들을 거느리고 나타나자 갑자기 진나라 병사들이 숨겨둔 무기를 들고 공격하여 촉나라 군주는 사로잡히게 되었고, 그로 인해 촉나라는 멸망하고 말았다.
