◇ Bungee jumping and Olympic Games

During the 2004 Athens Olympics, national archers climbed to the bungee jumping pole, which was 95 meters long, in line with the Athens Corinthian Canal.

The leader had no choice but to set an example. The director jumped first. The coach, who returned to the jumping board, ordered his seniors to jump as soon as they volunteered.

Without hesitation, a female athlete raised her hand and stepped forward. (The director had expected the men to jump first.)

The rest of the players also jumped only after the women jumped one after another.

What was interesting was that two months later, the individual Olympic Games score was in the order of jumping off bungee jumping that day. The first jumper to win gold, the second to silver and the third to fail in the qualification round.

The women's team performance in the men's and women's archery team event was also high.

Today's training and efforts are the result of tomorrow. Practice is practice, practice is practice...

◇ 번지점프와 올림픽

과거 2004년 아테네 올림픽때 국가대표 양궁선수들은 아테네 코린토스 운하에 설치된 줄 길이가 무려 95미터나 되는 번지점프대에 올라섰다.

리더는 본보기가 될 수밖에 없었다. 감독이 먼저 뛰어내렸다. 점프대로 돌아온 감독은 선배 후배 할 것 없이 자원하는 대로 뛰어내리도록 명령했다.

이때 주저없이 한 여자선수가 손을 들고 앞으로 나섰다. (감독은 남자들이 먼저 뛰어내릴 것으로 기대했었다.)

나머지 선수들도 여자 선수들이 차례차례 뛰어내린 후에야 남자 선수들이 뛰어 내렸다.

흥미로운 것은 2개월 뒤 올림픽 개인전 성적이 그날 번지점프대에서 뛰어내린 순서대로 라는 것이었다. 가장 먼저 뛰어내린 선수가 금메달, 두 번째 선수가 은메달, 그리고 세 번째 뛰어내린 선수는 예선 탈락의 고배를 마셨다.

남녀 양궁 단체전 성적 또한 열정을 갖고 훈련에 임했던 여자팀의 성적이 높았다.

오늘의 훈련과 노력이 내일의 결과이다. 연습은 실전처럼, 실전은 연습처럼...
