◇ The weak point is the strong point

Malcolm Gladwell, author of "David and Goliath," rejects existing laws and stresses that looking at them from a totally different creative perspective reveals new rules.

When David, a shepherd boy, fought the giant warrior Goliath, no one expected David's victory, but David thought otherwise. David, who had a weak physique, changed his style of fighting to a two-stone battle in his favor instead of the traditional battle of Baek.

What we consider valuable comes when we meet with a one-sided presence like the giant Goliath. Under these circumstances, if you remain still, you will remain weak. Conversely, if you recognize your weaknesses and find something that a "giant" can’t do, you can be reborn as a strong person.

◇ 약점을 강점으로

'다윗과 골리앗'의 저자 말콤 글래드웰은 기존 법칙을 거부하고 완전히 다른 창조적 시각으로 바라보면 새로운 룰이 보인다고 강조한다.

양치기 소년 ‘다윗’이 거인 전사 ‘골리앗’과 싸울 때 누구도 다윗의 승리를 예상하지 못했지만 다윗은 다르게 생각했다. 체격의 열세라는 약점을 가진 다윗은 기존의 백병전 대신 자신에게 유리한 투석전으로 전투 방식을 바꿔 승리했다.

우리가 가치가 있다고 여기는 것들은 거인인 골리앗과 같이 일방적인 우위를 지닌 존재와 맞닿았을 때 나온다. 이런 상황에서 가만히 있으면 약자로 남을 수밖에 없다. 반대로 자신의 약점을 인지하고 ‘거인’이 할 수 없는 무언가를 찾는다면 강자로 새롭게 태어날 수 있다.
