◇ 위위구조(圍魏救趙)
위나라를 포위하여 조나라를 구하다.

36계의 두번째 계략으로 상대의 중심과 나의 중심이 부딪치치 말고, 우회해서 적의 약점을 찾아 치라고 하는 계략이다.

춘추시대인 BC 353년, 위 나라는 인접한 조나라를 공격하자 다급해진 조나라는 동맹인 제나라에게 구원을 요청했다.

이에 제나라는 조나라를 지원하기 위해 군사 8만을 파견하였다. 이때 장군으로 전기를, 군사로 손빈을 임명했다.

전기 장군은 군사를 이끌고 위 나라 군대를 정면 공격하려했다. 이 때 군사 손빈이 나서 전기 장군에게 조언을 하였다.

"위나라군을 정면에서 공격한다면 전력이 집중된 위나라 군대를 당할 수가 없다. 이럴 때는 상대의 급소를 노려서 치게 되면 문제는 자연스럽게 풀리게 된다."

"그럼 급소가 어디인가?" 

"위나라는 병사들이 모두 빠져나가 경비가 허술한 곳이 바로 위 나라의 수도 대량이니 위 나라의 수도를 공격해야 한다"

전기 장군은 곧바로 위나라 수도인 대량을 공격하여 손쉽게 점령하였다. 이 소식을 들은 위나라 군대는 조나라에 대한 공격을 멈추고 군사를 되돌려 돌아오게 된다. 이어 이 회군하는 위나라군을  제나라군이 계릉에 매복해 있다가 습격하여 대승을 거두었다.

이 계책의 중심내용은 적이 강할 때는 잠시 피하고 적의 취약한 부분을 공격해 제압하거나 적의 급소를 급습해 위협을 가하는 것이 이 전략의 요체다.

강한 적은 우선 그 힘을 분산시켜야하고,  그러기 위해 가장 약한 곳이 어디인가를 찾아내야 한다. 아무리 강한 상대라도 약점은 있기 마련이다.

결론적으로 '위위구조'의 세 가지 숨은 뜻은

1) 강한 곳을 피하고 약한 곳을 공격한다.

2) 공격을 최선의 수비로 삼는다.

3) 우회의 방법을 택한다.


* 적의 적은 친구다.

* 전쟁에 대비하는 것이 평화를 유지하는 가장 효과적인 방법이다.
