◇ Sejong’s decision-making methods can be divided into three main types.

The first is unanimity, the second is majority decision and the third is dogmatic decision.

Sejong handled the decision carefully through "full length" when it resulted in irreversible consequences, while using the "multiple-decision" method for matters of the honor and pride of Go-eul.

And if the interests of the conference participants, though necessary for the community, are expected to cause the task to run aground, the king made a decision on his own, even if he faced opposition.

◇ 如雷如霜

To be wary of oneself with thunder and frost.

Dasan Jeong Yak-yong stressed his usual integrity, saving and frugality.

The root of loving the people lies in saving wealth, the root of saving is frugal, and only by frugality can we love the people.

Therefore, he said, "Most of all, we should be virtuous and intelligent and gain trust by being clean, and we should be on our guard against this, like a thunderbolt and like a frost."

I often use ‘official P = 40 to 70’. P represents the probability of success and numbers represent the percentage of information required. If information is gathered to the extent that it is likely to fit between 40 and 70 percent, push it instinctively. Don't take action if you have less information than 40 percent chance of being hit. But we can't wait until we have 100 percent certainty. Because it's too late then.

◇ 세종의 의사결정 방식은 크게 세 가지로 나눌 수 있다.

첫째는 만장일치, 둘째는 다수결, 셋째는 독단결정이다.

세종은 결정이 돌이킬 수 없는 결과를 초래할 때는 ‘만장일치’를 통해 신중히 처리했고, 고을의 명예와 자존심이 걸린 문제는 ‘다수결’ 방식을 사용했다.

그리고 공동체를 위해 꼭 필요하지만 회의 참석자들의 이해관계로 그 과업이 좌초될 위험이 예상되는 경우에는 미리 충분히 묻고 다수의 지혜를 얻되 최종적으로는 반대를 무릅쓰고라도 왕 스스로 결단을 내려 추진했다.


◇ 여뢰여상 (如雷如霜)
자신을 경계하기를 우레와 같이 하고 서리와 같이 해야 한다는 말.

다산 정약용은 평소 청렴과 절약 그리고 검소함을 강조했다.

백성을 사랑하는 근본은 재물을 절약하는 데 있고, 절약하는 근본은 검소한 데 있으며, 검소해야 청렴할 수 있고 청렴해야 백성을 사랑할 수 있다고 했다.

그렇기에 무엇보다 덕망있고 총명해야 하며 청렴함으로써 신뢰를 얻으며 이를 위해 자신의 경계하기를 우레와 같이 하고 서리와 같이 해야 한다고 했다.


* 유능한 경영인은 결정이 아무리 힘들고 어렵더라도 결코 미루지 않는다. 실패한 결정 10개 중 8개는 판단을 잘못 해서가 아니라 ‘제 때’ 결정을 못 내렸기 때문에 실패한 것이다.

* 나는 ‘공식 P = 40~70을 자주 사용한다. P는 성공할 가능성을 나타내며 숫자는 요구된 정보의 퍼센트를 나타낸다. 맞을 가능성이 40~70% 사이에 들 정도로 정보가 모이면 직감적으로 추진하라. 맞을 기회가 40% 미만일 정도로 정보가 적으면 행동을 취하지 말라. 하지만 100% 확실한 정보를 갖게 될 때 까지 기다릴 수만은 없다. 왜냐면 그때가 되면 너무 늦기 때문이다.

* 결정을 하는 것은 판단력을 필요로 하는 것과 거의 같은 정도의 용기를 필요로 한다.

그러나 아무래도 납득이 가지 않을 때에는 결정을 실행에 옮기는 것을 일시적으로 중단하라.  - 다베 쇼이치
